Intelligent City is thrilled to share the exciting news of our collaboration with the BC Indigenous Housing Society on their remarkable new project. As a trusted provider of cutting-edge architectural solutions, we are honoured to supply the Passive House facade system for VNHS’s highly anticipated 9-storey mass timber building. Aptly named Khupkhahpay’ay, meaning “cedar tree” in the Squamish language, this iconic structure will feature a design inspired by the traditional artistry of woven baskets.
Working hand in hand with GBL Architects and Ventana Construction Corporation, Intelligent City is dedicated to bringing this sustainability-driven development to life. Together, we aim to create a remarkable living space that embraces innovation and addresses the pressing need for affordable housing. With 81 homes designed to be both environmentally friendly and financially accessible, Khupkhahpay’ay is set to make a lasting impact on the community.
At the heart of this project lies our state-of-the-art Passive House facade system. Designed to maximize energy efficiency, comfort, and sustainability, this advanced technology will help Khupkhahpay’ay achieve its ambitious goals. By combining the strength and beauty of mass timber construction with Passive House principles, we are redefining what it means to build environmentally conscious structures.
The vision behind Khupkhahpay’ay’s exterior draws inspiration from the intricate craftsmanship of traditional woven baskets. It symbolizes a harmonious blend of cultural heritage and modern architectural excellence. With its visually stunning design, this building will become a striking addition to Vancouver’s skyline, proudly reflecting the cultural significance of the Squamish Nation.
As we embark on this journey with VNHS, GBL Architects, and Ventana Construction Corporation, Intelligent City is fully committed to pushing the boundaries of sustainable urban development. Together, we aspire to create an intelligent city where innovation and affordability coexist, ensuring a brighter and greener future for all.
